The Red SN700 is Western Digital’s NVMe drive for network-attached storage, and its specification is deliberately different from a desktop SSD. Peak sequential throughput is 3400MB/s read and 2900MB/s write — modest by Gen4 standards — but endurance on the 2TB capacity is rated at 1000TBW under a continuous 24/7 workload, which is where consumer drives give out first. The intended use is as a cache or metadata tier in a NAS, or as the system volume in a small server that runs without interruption. Form factor is standard M.2 2280, so it also fits an ordinary desktop board where sustained write endurance matters more than benchmark numbers. Five-year limited warranty.
